now that's what i came to washington to do. that's why for the first time in history my administration posts on our white house visit -- posts all our white house visitors online. that's why we excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs. but we can't stop there. it's time to require lobbyists to disclose each contact they make on behalf of a client with my administration or with congress. it's time to put strict limits on the contributions the lobbyists give to candidates for federal office. with all due deference to separation of pewers, last week the supreme court reversed a century of law that i believe will open the flood gates for special interests, including foreign corporations, to spend without limit in our elections. i don't think american elections should be bankrolled by america's most powerful interests or worse, by foreign entities. they should be decided by the american people and i urge democrats and republicans to pass the bill that helps correct some of these problems. i'm also calling on congress continue down

you can see the characters to play big roles here in washington. lieberman has made a kind of resurrection of late. this looks like it is made of silly putty. he is kind of moving through all of those muscles there. and then there are some people who do not want to go away. thank goodness. cartoonists were cheering when mccain nominated her. then we come to president barack obama. when a politician first comes into the public limelight, the characters are very close to the photographs. over time, the fish gets more exaggerated. last year at this time, when we had the election and post- election, this was barack obama. he looks like he is smiling all the time. in fact, during the campaign, i had made a three-d model of him. i was on a six-city tour with " second city," the improv group. it looked like to talk to the sky and he would talk back. it was very effective at the time. but when he got into office, things started to change. he became more sullen and serious. in dealing with iran, you can see the guy in the back. but here was, obama no longer

i grew up in petworth here in washington, d.c. i'm an urban kid. i have -- i cut my teeth on the politics of this city with the likes of david clark and john ray, and eleanor holmes norton, watching them maneuver and fight for the city. my experiences are different than most states and certainly national chairman. with respect to, you know, our major donors. ralph e. boyd doesn't understand how it works. i don't know who he's talking to. but in typical fashion, a lot of things are gotten wrong. and the reality of it is if talk to anyone who's quote a major donor for the democrat or the republicans, those individuals run businesses that got stocked by a recession that was one of the worst in 20 or 30 years. so they didn't have the resources, the extra cash, if you will, to play politics. and so there was a lot of slow down. and a lot of, you know, lack of access to those dollars to do the things that you would normally do. however, we have put in place some creative strategies to bring our donors back. and beginning in july or so, we started seeing

it is just nice being out of washington. there are some nice people in washington. they can drive you crazy. am i wrong, sherry? it's always nice to get out of washington. there are some nice people in washington, but they can drive you crazy. am i wrong, sherod? for two years, i had the privilege of traveling across this country, talking with folks like you about the challenges you face in your own lives, and the challenges we all face together as a nation. people ask me this all the time. the single hardest thing about being president, is that it's harder for me to do that these days. it is harder to get out of the bubble. don't get me wrong. the white house is a wonderful place to work. you live above the store, which means i have a very short commute. i see my daughters before they go to school, and i see them at night for dinner, even if i have to go back down to the office, and that makes everything so much better. but the truth is, this job is a little confining. and that is frustrating. i can't just go to the barber shop or visit the diner. so, i appreciate the chance to come out here and spend a day - to visit plants like emc nothing beats a da
